Asian Art 101: Southeast Asian Art at the Crow Collection of Asian Art

Join Dr. Gardner Harris, Director of the Shraman South Asian Museum and Learning Center Foundation, for a discussion of Southeast Asian Art. Dr. Harris will explore the unique aesthetic that blends indigenous motifs with artistic styles and subject matter introduced by seafaring merchants and religious functionaries from India. Diwali Celebration at Christopher A. Parr Library in Plano

In conjunction with the Christopher A. Parr library in Plano, we will be hosting a celebration of Diwali on Saturday November 7, 2015. Bring your family and friends and join us for an afternoon of activities, arts and crafts, and storytelling. Admission is free!

Diwali Mela

We will have a booth at the Diwali Mela this year! There will be activities and educational materials. See below for more details. See you there!

DFW ICS invites one and all to the 10th Annual Diwali Mela held at Cotton Bowl Stadium, Dallas, Texas. 

This year’s entertainment comes from the most popular singer of Alka Yagnik and her group. The event also has Ramlila, special entertainment for kids, spectacular fire works, Laser show, booths of many for profit and non-profit organizations and of course a variety of mouth savoring food stalls in a true mela environment. Events start at 4:30 PM and go all the way until midnight. 
Come one and come all.
Tickets are 8 dollars with advance purchase and 10 dollars at the gate.

Akshaya Patra

Akshaya Patra provides mid-day meals to over 1.4 million children in schools across India. This year's keynote speaker is Tulsi Gabbard, the Congresswoman from Hawaii. The guests of honor are Yasmin and Satish Gupta. Come out and show your support for this great cause!

The celebrated Kathak maestro, Padmashri Guru Shovana Narayan, will be performing at the Jack Singley Auditorium in Irving. She will be accompanied by Ustad Shakeel Ahmed Khan (Tabla) & Madho Prasad (vocalist). This performance will be spectacular and all proceeds will benefit the Vedanta Society's new Vivekananda Hall.

Indian Cultural Heritage Foundation & Arathi School of Dance Present Arathi Dance Fest 2015

Arathi Dance Fest 2015 celebrates the 35th anniversary of the Arathi School of Dance and the 20th anniversary of the Indian Cultural Heritage Foundation. This 2-day event will include dance performances by local and international dance troupes. On Saturday, dance instructors will teach a series of Master Classes on different styles of dance. Come enjoy a magical weekend filled with spectacular performances and workshops!

The India Association of North Texas (IANT) is hosting Republic Day "to commemorate the day on which the Constitution of India came into force. It is one of three national holidays in India. IANT takes great pride in celebrating this holiday by showcasing the talents and cultural performances of over 800 children in the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolis. India Day is a forum for children to learn about India and understand why this holiday is so important to India. India Day allows the general community of the Dallas/Fort Worth area to learn about India and its vast cultures and history."
